Around 100 community members attended a Candlelight vigil to remember those who lost their lives or had been affected by domestic violence. The event brought awareness to domestic and family violence and was held on Wednesday evening, 5 May 2021. It was a very moving gathering, with a welcome to country given by Cindy Roberts, the names of the women and children who have been murdered in the past 12 months and lighting candles and laying of flowers in their memory. The evening ended with the singing of a reflection song – Another Women Gone.
A Candlelight Vigil is held on the first Wednesday in May as part of Domestic Violence Prevention Month each year.
